Based off a food mentioned in the Legend of Sun Knight Volume 5 Extra. From the 37th Sun Knight (but really Aldrizzt) to the 38th Cloud Knight. Aldrizzt felt bad that Neo stole Cloud's blood, ahem, I mean plum-rose juice. He wanted to give this to Cloud as a consolation gift, but unfortunately, he couldn’t find him. Plum and Rose Parfait (Makes 2 Parfaits) Ingredients • 1 C Mascarpone • 1/4 C Sugar • 2 Egg Yolks • 1 T Milk • Pinch of Salt • 1 T Rosewater • Red Plum Jam • Almond cookies • Garnish (Whipped cream, whole almond cookie, pocky, red fruit) Instructions 1. Whisk together the mascarpone, sugar, yolks, salt, milk and rosewater. 2. Smash the almond cookies. 3. In parfait glasses layer the jam, cookie bits, and the mascarpone mixture, and repeat. 4. Top this off with whipped cream, a whole cookie, pocky, and red fruits (I would have used fresh plum, but they are not in season). 5. Enjoy! Note: I based my filling off of this recipe

Question: Do our entries have to be for food? Would I be able to make a recipe for a magical potion, or a metaphorical "recipe", for example?

moonlightray Yes, it absolutely needs to be food. Otherwise, the staff won't be able to judge it.

Pies of Yu Wo
Enjoy the flavors of the Yu Wo universe with your family and friends! This recipe features flavors from three of Yu Wo's novels. The blueberry pie is from The Legend of Sun Knight. The walnut pumpkin pie is from No Hero. The taro pie is inspired by 1/2 Prince. Pies of Yu Wo recipe Serve 12 mini pies Ingredients Crust Taro Filling- 8oz / 220g taro root, peeled a cut into big chunks
- 1 egg
- ⅓ cup / 65g sugar
- ½ cup / 120g whole milk
- 1 tablespoon flour
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
Blueberry filling- 5.3oz/150g blueberry
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Dash cinnamon
- Dash salt
- ½ tsp lemon juice
Pumpkin filling- 8oz / 220g pumpkin puree
- 2 egg
- 8oz / 220g sweetened condensed milk
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Streusel- ⅓ cup / 40g chopped walnuts
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon cold butter
Optional ToppingInstructions Crust- Prepare oven if making by scratch. Pie crust should stay chilled in the refrigerator until being used.
- Preheat oven to 425°F/220°C.
Fillings- In a pot, cover taro root with just enough water and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the taro is cooked.
- While taro root cooks, prepare other two pie fillings. Combine blueberry fillings into a bowl. Gently toss all the ingredients together in a bowl. Set aside.
- For pumpkin filling, whisk together pumpkin puree and eggs until combined. Whisk in the remaining ingredients. Set aside.
- Then taro is done, discard the water and allow taro to cool (watch the taro magically turn purple as it cools). In a food processor, puree taro until a fine paste is formed. Transfer taro into a mixing bowl.
- Beat eggs lightly in a separate bowl. Combine eggs and the remaining taro filling ingredients in taro mixing bowl. Mix well and set aside.
Pies- Roll out pie crust dough and cut out roughly 4”/10cm circles. Grease muffin pan and add strips of parchment paper as seen here. Form crust into pans until it fits.
- Fill four of the crusts with each of the pie filling flavors. For pumpkin and taro, you should fill it until it’s ⅔ full. For the blueberry fill it until it’s all the way full. You may have left over filling and pie crust you can use to make more if you wish.
- Put in the oven and cook for 10 minutes. Change the temperature to 350°F/175°C and cook for another 10 minutes.
Streusel- While the pies cook, prepare the streusel. Toss the first four ingredients together. Finely dice butter and use hands to form a thick streusel.
- After the pies have been cooking for 20 minutes, remove the muffin tin and top the pumpkin pies with streusel. Return to oven and cook for another 15-20 minutes. The blueberry pies should be bubbling and the taro and pumpkin pies should barely jiggle.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Serve chilled or at room temperature with whipped cream if desired.

I saw the post about this contest last week on Thursday. Since my cooking day is Wednesday, rather than using one of the two cookbooks I’ve been alternating between lately, I figured, why not try my hand at doing up my own Yu Wo themed meal this week? So I did. I made five different things to represent five main series (though, now that I think of it, that seems like I’m neglecting GOD, but since we’re barely into the second volume right now I guess that can be permitted). Of course, the contest rules state that only one dish can be submitted so I’ll go with the one which was both the most unique (I feel) and the biggest hit taste-wise in addition to getting back to the roots of what started us all on this journey. (Don’t worry about the meal, I’ll probably post it for the heck of it after the contest has ended.) I tend toward wordiness (sorry). Since the contest rules say to keep it under 600 words and I have various notes from not following my own planned recipe (among other things) which I think could be useful to anyone who wants to play with it, I’ve put the extra notes which should not be considered part of the actual entry in a smaller font to make it clear (despite them being included under the spoiler tag). ½ Prince: Gui’s Considerate but Misguided Cooking for Prince: Dragon XX SoupAlthough many would argue that the most iconic and representative food for the ½ Prince series would be a meat bun, I feel that this may be slightly inaccurate. For one thing, Meatbun is not a food! I mean, he is, but he isn’t, okay? DO NOT EAT MEATBUN-BUN! The reason why I chose Dragon XX Soup (in addition to the fun of getting to type “Dragon XX” over and over) is that this one dish gets to the core of showing Prince and Gui’s relationship throughout the series. Prince just wants to earn lots of money, Gui just wants to do something nice for Prince. Seeing Prince’s excitement over the “Dragon XX,” Gui decides to make Prince some soup out of it. Of course, this turns out poorly for Gui. Since Prince spends the majority of the series hiding his true identity, misunderstandings and bad outcomes are common throughout the early stages of their relationship. So we could also call this “Misunderstanding Soup.” It especially works since there’s no way for me to use real “Dragon XX” in my soup. I’m too poor. Dragon XX Soup (serves 4) Ingredients: 1 dragon XX (boiled and diced; substitute XX or sausage of your choice according to availability of dragon xx) 1 Tablespoon olive oil, vegetable oil, or butter ½ onion (diced) 1 carrot (diced) 1 stalk celery (diced) ½ teaspoon dried thyme ½ teaspoon fennel seed 4 cups chicken broth a pinch of chili powder a pinch of smoked paprika black pepper to taste Note: For this dish, I, unfortunately, lacked access to dragon xx or any other kind of xx so I substituted a bologna. If you intend to use actual xx in your soup, please be aware of the location of the urinary tract while you are cutting and be sure to clean the xx well before boiling and dicing (most people don’t particularly care for urine flavor added to their foods). If using sausage, there is no need to boil it ahead of time; it’s fine as it is. Also, different sausages (just like different xxs) will add a different flavor to your soup so have fun trying this out with your favorite types.
Step 1: Heat the oil or butter in the pot. Add the diced onion, carrot, and celery and sauté them until they are softened (this should take around five minutes). Step 2: Stir in the thyme and fennel seed, then add in the chicken broth, chili, paprika, and pepper. Step 3: Bring the soup to a simmer and add in the dragon xx (or substitute). Allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes. Serve hot and provide any additional seasonings you desire. This completes a basic Dragon XX Soup. I felt it good to keep it simple since Gui would have been limited by the ingredients he had available at the time.Notes on the pictured incarnation:
Ingredients:
As has been stated, I substituted a bologna for the dragon XX when I made this. Actually, the whole bologna would have been too much so I only used half of it.
I used olive oil. I also used closer to a tablespoon and a half of it because the container was mostly full and that’s how much came out. This is also fine.
I used about ¾ of an onion since it was in the fridge and I wanted to use it up, use more or less depending on how oniony you like things.
Another ingredient which was changed from my initial planning was the carrot. We had mini carrots in the fridge which had already been boiled so, rather than cooking up another carrot, I used some of those – about a third of what was in the container pictured so as to be about the equivalent of the size of a regular carrot. Since they were already small, I just cut them in half before adding them so they matched the size of everything else.
Step 1: If you are using pre-cooked forms of any of the vegetables (in my case, the carrot), don’t sauté them with the rest of the vegetables. Add them in after the xx, closer to the end so they are warmed up but not too mushy.
Step 2: There are lots of different chicken broths. We sometimes have the canned kind and sometimes have the boxed kind. I’ve made my own before as well, but I usually don’t bother with that. This time I used powdered chicken broth so I added 4 cups of water and 1 ½ tablespoons of powdered broth. It’s a good idea to taste your chicken broth before adding it. Some broths are very salty and if it seems excessively salty you’ll want to cut it with water, maybe adding 3 cups broth and 1 cup water or 2 cups of each depending on how salty it is. However salty your chicken broth is, that’s how salty your soup will be. It’s a good idea to taste the soup again after adding in the spices so you can make sure it’s to your taste. However, if you’re planning on using an especially spicy sausage, please bear in mind that it will also affect the flavor of the soup.
Step 3: When adding in pre-cooked vegetables, it’s fine add them in just a few minutes before the soup is finished cooking. Soups tend to do well being cooked for long periods of time but since all the ingredients have been cooked at this point, the main thing is to finish fully softening your vegetables and to get your xx or sausage nicely boiled (or re-boiled). This can be accomplished in 10 minutes. In my case, I made the soup in the morning to go with our dinner in the evening, so, once it was cooked, I allowed it to cool, then stuck it in the refrigerator for the day. When it was close to time to eat, I reheated it on the stove so it got at least a good 40 minutes cooking time. However, my “completion” photo is from the morning so it only had the 10 minutes or so at that point. One more thing to note: My bologna was not exceptionally dense. If you are using actual dragon xx (or the like), it will probably be more dense than the bologna. So, rather than floating at the top of the soup, as seen here, it will more likely sink down and become a nice little meaty surprise at the bottom of the bowl when you’re eating it. The floating bologna makes it obvious how cooked it is, sunken xx will be less obvious, but if you’ve boiled it ahead of time you should have nothing to worry about.
Why I chose the ingredients I did:
I think my bologna is obvious (because if you slice it a couple times lengthwise before you dice it up, it looks like a whip! …it doesn’t need to look like a whip!!). As for the vegetables and spices, I have no idea what Gui was carrying on him when he made the soup. He definitely added spices, and parsley and black pepper are fairly common spices. Fennel seed… Well… For some reason we have a bag of fennel seed and no one ever uses it. If I’m going to be making my own dish, I thought I might as well use it! Randomly having a spice seems in keeping with “Gui used what he had on him” and the soup turned out well, so I think it was good. Again, I don’t know if Gui had veggies on him, but I like to think that you can randomly pick up onion, carrot, and celery in different locations throughout the game and that maybe there was something growing randomly in the area. The paprika and chili powder I threw in at the last moment (which is why they are not pictured with the ingredients in the first photo) because I was thinking “this is dragon xx soup, it needs a kick!” and they were right next to each other on the shelf. Chicken broth is generally a good soup base, though I think it more likely that Gui may have taken some of the dragon meat and made a broth with it first if he went that route. Then again, maybe the dragon xx added enough flavor by itself – I’ve heard it can be potent.
And for anyone wondering why Sun is here representing a 1/2 Prince recipe...well...it's the only piece of Yu Wo merchandise I own. I took pictures with the book in it throughout my entire meal making.

Recipe for blueberry tarts filled with the Ice Knight's love (and a bit of the Earth Knight's hate) for the Sun Knight! In order to fulfil the Sun Knight’s never-ending cravings for blueberry sweets, the Ice Knight decides to get experimental with his baking. With Chinese New Year approaching, the Ice Knight put his own blueberry spin on ‘Nastar’ or pineapple tarts, found in different parts of Asia and a popular treat consumed during festive occasions. Here’s what he did: Blueberry Jam Filling: - 3 cups blueberries - 3/4 cup brown sugar - 4 cloves - 1 pinch of cinnamon Ice mixed all the ingredients together in a saucepan and heated it over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickened. This was done for approximately 30 minutes. He then allowed the filling to cool and set it aside until it was needed. Dough: - 200g unsalted butter - 60g caster sugar - 2 egg yolks - 250g all purpose flour - 30g corn flour - 20g sweetened condensed milk To prepare the dough, the butter, sugar and eggs are mixed using a whisk or spatula until light and fluffy. The flour and milk are then added and mixed until fully incorporated. Ice found if the mixture was too wet, adding some more flour helped! He covered the dough and refrigerated it for around half an hour, until firm. Egg wash: - 2 egg yolks - 1 tsp milk - 1 tsp honey An egg wash is used to create the lovely golden-brown finish to nastar. Ice mixed the above ingredients together in a small bowl, making sure the honey was well dissolved and the mixture was not lumpy. Finally, it was time to make the tarts! Ice rolled the dough into circles about half a centimetre thick and about 5 to 6 centimetres in diameter. He would then place about half a teaspoon of the blueberry filling at the centre, and pinch the edges of the dough together over the filling and turn the seam side down to form a ball. However, just as Ice was making more balls, he turned to see someone knocking at the kitchen door. It was the Earth Knight, passing on a message that Judgement was calling for him. Though sad to leave his little haven, Ice left his baking for the time being and went to see what Judgement needed. As he was on his way out, the Earth Knight asked, rather suspiciously, whether what Ice was making was for the Sun Knight…Ice gave a silent nod with his usual cold expression in response. As he walked away he could hear the Earth Knight’s cackling softly in glee… Just earlier, Sun had walked in (again!) when Earth had finally managed to bring a girl into his room. Recognising his chance at revenge, while Ice was out the Earth Knight quickly grabbed the grossest thing he could find, rolled out a ball and filled it with the substance…some chilli sauce! After adding it amongst the other balls, Earth walked away, cackling gleefully… The balls were placed in trays lined with baking paper, about five centimetres apart and baked in a pre-heated oven for 15 minutes at 150°C. They were then brushed with the egg wash and baked for another 15 minutes until golden. Ice recommends the tarts are served hot with some cream and perhaps some of the blueberry jam if there’s any left! A surprising twist on the traditional Asian festive treat, you can add your own fillings and be creative such as adding wasabi, garlic, curry paste etc and serving them to your friends (or enemies), as well as mixing bad ones with sweet ones for a fun party game of luck!

Sadly, After creating this recipe I realized I have not the ingredients with which to make it but it seems such a waste not to post it anyway. I originally thought up a similar recipe to accompany some earl grey truffles I like making, but instead of making pie, I made krumkaka, a Norwegian sweet cracker thing. Works great with that too! Just omit the crust and cook the blueberries on the stove. (Doesn't count as two recipes, just an alternative serving suggestion!)
I present the ultimate blueberry pie from Ice to Sun (adjustments for Sun's particular tastes in parenthesis)!
Ingredients for crust 1/4 cup vodka or similar liqueur (Rum) chilled with basic freezing spell 1/4 cup water 2 tbs sugar 1 tsp salt 1 1/4 cup butter chopped into 1" cubes 3 cups flour
Procedure Combine water and liqueur together and chill with freezing spell until ready to add to pie crust. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl then blend with cold butter. Keep mixing until you get a shaggy sort of dough with the butter well integrated. Carefully blend with the very cold liqueur mixture but do not over mix. Roll out the dough on either a floured surface or a pie cloth until about a 1/4" thick. Lay over your pie plate and cut off excess. Use excess to make a lattice. Optional: brush crust lattice with some milk so it will brown when cooked.
Ingredients for pie 4 cups blueberries (3 cups blueberries) 1 tbs butter 3 tbs cornstarch 3/4 cup honey 1/4 tsp cinnamon (1 cup blueberry preserves) (blueberry liqueur) (extra cup of sugar for topping)
Procedure Combine honey, butter, cinnamon, and cornstarch in a pot and heat until integrated (combine everything except extra sugar and fresh blueberries in a pot and heat until integrated). Pour mixture over blueberries and stir until well coated. Pour blueberries into the piecrust and cover with lattice (In a pot, melt sugar on medium low until just melted. Brush quickly over entire lattice and pour any extra sugar evenly over the pie). Place pie into a preheated oven at 425 for 20 minutes, then lower to 375 for a further 30 minutes or until properly bubbly (If sugar begins to brown, cover with foil). Let rest for at least one hour (make sure to cast ice magic across all windows and doors while cooking and setting to ensure that Sun does not find the pie until it is finished).
Topping
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 tbs vanilla extract
1/4 cup sugar (1 cup sugar + the extra sweat orange syrup I made last week)
some candied orange peels for garnish ( Sun doesn't like the orange peels, they aren't sweet enough yet. Find new recipe)
Procedure Whip sugar, vanilla, and cream in a bowl on high speed until stiff and fluffy. Serve slices of pie with a generous topping of whipped cream and some slivers of orange peel. (Serve Sun's slice with the sweeter whipping cream and top with orange syrup)

I cook this all the time just because its cheap and I love rice porridge!
From Shujun to Shuyu
Rice Porridge with Chicken (good for the apocalypse or for poor college students) Since it is easy on the stomach, its good for sick people! Super easy to make!
Required Ingredients: 1 cup of rice 1 chicken breast 5 cups of chicken broth
Optional Ingredients: Ginger Chives Salt
Steps: 1. Put chicken breast and chicken broth in a medium sized pot and boil it for 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. When cooked, take the chicken breast out of the broth and set aside to cool. 2. Wash 1 cup of rice and add the rice into the same broth that cooked the chicken. Stir the rice occasionally until it boils, then lower the heat to a light simmer. Cover the pot. Every few minutes stir the porridge. 3. When the chicken is cooled, tear the chicken into shreds and add into the porridge. 4. Cook the porridge until it reaches the consistency you desire. (If you want more a more liquid porridge, add water.) 5. Add salt to taste. 6. Varnish with a meimei’s love for her erge <3
If the apocalypse is kind to you (or you feel like splurging on more fancier foods) you can put grated ginger into the boiling rice, and top the finished porridge with chopped chives.

Step 2: Add in the ice cold water and slowly bring together until it becomes a dough Step 3: Cling wrap the dough and flatten it out. Leave in the fridge to rest for at least 30 minutes. Step 4: Meanwhile, make the filling. Add sugar are butter in a saucepan, and cook until it's bubbling. (The sugar doesn't have to be melted) Step 5: Add in the blueberries and cook for a few minutes until it releases alot of juice. Step 6: Mix corn starch and water together, make sure to mix it very well. Then add to the blueberry filling. Stir to incorporate, then leave to cool. Step 7: Take out your pie crust and roll to a thickness of 3mm. Step 8: Cut the pie crust into the size of your pie tin.(I used 2 small pie tins) Line your pie tin with the dough and cut away the excess. Step 9: Poke holes in the base with a fork Step 10: Fill your pie cases with the cooled blueberry filling Step 11: Cut the remaining dough into strips and make a lattice on top Step 12: You can leave the pie with just to lattice, or use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and decorate the top of your pie Step 13: Beat an egg and using a pastry brush, brush the egg on top of your pie Step 14: Bake your pie at 190 degrees Celsius for 35-40 minutes Step 15: Take out your pie and allow to cool Step 16: Take lots of photos and enjoy =D

Hello everyone ! The Cooking contest finally came to an end, and the winners have been decided. With Ohmygod's permission, because He is really too busy looking after S.U.N. right now, I will be the one announcing the winners. Congratulations to: Grand winner 1st place: chestnut and Runner up winner 2nd place: mizuhino Also, honorable mention to shyfeather who came in third place. Sorry, no prize for you though.
Both winners will receive a shiny forum badge in the following days, when Ohmygod finally find some time to bestow it upon them.
I invite both winners to contact Lucathia (our official prize distributor) through PMs on the public forums, so they can tell her which prize they want. She will answer them as soon as possible.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the way, special shoutout to listeningdaisi , mizuhino and kamui for whom I actually voted. I really like your recipes. I might try some of them at home. However... I probably won't make a broth for the Dragon XX soup... That bologna deserves a delicious cream instead.
