Contest - Vampire Three-course MealDeadline: May 31 2019 for everyone. Winners Announcement: 1-3 weeks after the contest ended. How to win: Submit a recipe for a three-course meal made especially for vampires.
Contest description: Very far away from Sunset City, there is an ancient castle that has been serving as a non-human resort. Ah Ye heard about it and decided to send Charles and Melody there for a whole week on paid vacation.
Coincidently, the resort’s Chef is currently looking to add to his menu a new signature vampire three-course meal.
The Chef is requesting for shrewd amateur chefs to create recipes for a vampire three-course meal. The meal must contain an appetizer, a main course, a dessert, and a drink. However, to participate, you need to create only one recipe for one of those three parts of a three-course meal (you choose which one you want to do) along with a drink. The Chef will decide which recipes to take for his signature vampire three-course meal.
Please be aware that both the Chef and Ah Ye will be taste testing the dishes. Please don’t poison them, and don't bribe them~ Remember that the recipes are for vampires, not Ah Ye.
The meals will be judged on three elements: the taste, the simplicity (not too many ingredients), and whether all the elements go well together or not.
Details and rules: 1. To enter, you must have an account on PrinceRevolution’s forum. We will contact you through the PM system if you have won. 2. One entry per person. Please don’t use different accounts to participate more than once. Otherwise you will be disqualified. 3. PR! Staff members can participate but they are not allowed on the evaluation team. 4. Late entries will not be considered. 5. Your recipe must be as simple as possible. Don’t use too many ingredients. 6. Please keep the number of steps under 20 for your entry. 7. Once I like your submission, that means it has been approved, and can no longer be modified.
Instructions: – Submissions go in this thread. – Please label appropriately and put under spoiler tags. – To enter your submission, post it directly in this thread as a reply! – Please put your entry under a spoiler tag to save space. – Label the spoiler tag with a general description of your submission. – Please give your submission a title if you can.

I made black sesame mushi-pan and pecan milk. I know this is for vampires, but as Ah Ye is the judge, I had to make it good for him too! I used the black sesame paste as a salute to night, the time of the non-human. As Ah Ye likes milk, so I decided to make a pecan nut milk for him. You could use the pecan milk in the mushi-pan if you want. Together it makes a nice light after meal combination. As it is not really a blood based meal, I suggest that the vampire drinks the blood of the person who eats it, after watching them slowly consume the Mushi-Pan and milk. Black Sesame Mushi-Pan Ingredients (makes 5) - 2 T Milk - ½ C all-purpose flour - 1 tsp baking powder - 1 t Milk Powder - 1 Egg - 1 T sugar - 2 T neutral oil - ½ t Almond Extract - 1½ T Black Sesame Paste 1. Set up your bamboo or metal steamer over some water and get it boiling. 2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, and milk powder in a bowl. 3.In another bowl mix together the milk, egg, sugar, oil, and sesame paste. I made my sesame paste so it was chunkier, if yours is smoother you can add in some whole black sesames to make it prettier. 4. Mix these two mixtures together. Divide the contents into sturdy paper cups/silicone cupcake liners/similar until ¾ full. If you really need to use paper liners, it will steam, but it will flatten the liner, so you need to give them more room. 5. Cook the cakes in the steamer for 15 minutes on high heat. If unsure stake it (with a wooden skewer)! Pecan Milk Ingredients (makes 3 ¼ C) -1 C of roasted Pecans -1 Stick Cinnamon (optional: toast it in pan for 5 minutes for extra flavor) - ½ t Salt - ¼ C Maple Syrup - Enough water to cover the pecans + 4 C cold water at the end end 1. Pour water over the pecans and cinnamon stick until they are covered. Let this sit overnight. 2.Drain out the the water and blend the pecans, cinnamon, salt and maple syrup in a blender (the better the blender, the creamier the milk). Strain the mixture through a cloth (do not use a metal sieve, it tastes better through a cloth). 3. Chill (or heat up) and enjoy with the mushi-pan. Remember to stir it again just before you drink it as the parts separate.

jasaebushae ooohh You actually submitted a whole three-course meal... You only needed to submit a recipe for one of the actual part of a three-course meal with a drink! Could you please choose only one of the recipes and add a drink in your original post? listeningdaisi Please remember that the recipes must be made for a vampire. Not Ah Ye. Bribing a judge is bad! XD This message concerns everyone participating: Once I like your post, it means I'm approving it for the contest. After that, it's impossible to modify it.

AkaiiRia eh it's not a bribe, it's just a plus . I'm inviting the vampires to a Mukbang, much cooler than what Charles normally drinks.

jasaebushae Don't give up yet! You can invent it. It doesn't need to be super fancy. It can be a suggestion of wine, and you come up with the ingredients needed along with a list of steps. You just need creativity. I highly doubt the judges will make all the recipes at home. xD

I am just seeing this now. (My mentality is such that I had to hide in shame at my own procrastination so I've even neglected to keep up at all for about the past year, though I'm finally getting caught up again. ^^; )
Should I try one? This week is busy, but I was already planning to do a bunch more somewhat-related cooking anyhow. Then again, I'm not sure it feels right at this point.
I think people will probably post last-minute again, so there should be more entries (please make this guess accurate!). Does anyone mind if I link them to the cooking thread after it's over (they definitely count as "inspired by")?

Castles are far to dark in general, so to begin the meal on a light, exotic note, I present my Appetizer Entree: Three Fish Spicy Ceviche with Blood Orange Cocktail!
Ceviche
1/3 pound each of wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and Yellow tail fish, diced into small cubs (about the size of your thumbnail) juice of 2 lemons juice of 1 tangerine
1 medium jalapeno, seeded and minced
1/2 red onion diced
1/2 cup of cilantro, chopped finely
2 tsp of olive oil
1 tsp of sesame oil 2 tsp of chili oil
salt/pepper to taste 1 Ataulfo (or champagne) mango finely diced (preserve as much of the juice as possible) optional: sesame seeds, jalapeno rings, sriracha. Combine all ingredients except mango, salt, pepper, and sesame seeds in a small bowl and stir thoroughly. Cover and place in fridge for an hour.
Remove from fridge and mix in mango (plus any juice you saved). Season to taste and serve beside or on crackers topped with sesame seeds, cilantro leaf, jalapeno ring, and a drop of sriracha.
Blood Orange Rum
Half a cup of fresh, squeezed blood orange juice. 1 shot Rum (Captain Morgan Original or similar)
Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour orange juice and rum together over the ice. Garnish with a slice of ruby-red blood orange.

I decided to write this after all. {Contest Submission} This was really quite a challenge. Since any food other than blood is tasteless and not filling, really all that could be possible would be varying vintages of human blood. Even if you mix the blood into food, you’re just ruining perfectly good blood, which seems like it’s rather a waste. I wouldn’t want to insult the vampires by ruining their food. Since animal blood isn’t considered food, it could possibly be used without insult, but I think it may backfire as then the vampire will be thinking of blood and the animal blood wouldn’t be satisfying. I could try for a food with a nutritional content similar to that of blood and try to make it appealing in other ways, but that would probably be similar to a human going to a theme park with paper versions of foods on display, and would likely achieve the same nutritional value a human would get by eating said paper foods. Since a non-human resort would be aware of the problems involved in feeding a vampire anything other than human blood, I would expect them to provide their own blood bar when they know there will be vampire guests (or other guests who require blood for sustenance or recreation). As such, I decided to skip making a dish that involves blood altogether.
With that decided, this meal probably isn’t about providing the vampires with nutrition, but rather might be a recreational activity for vampires to enjoy. In this case, strongly scented foods, visually appealing foods, or foods with an interesting texture may be able to stimulate the vampires other senses in ways which might be pleasurable them. Since it’s human food, the quantity needs to be low so as not to overload the vampire’s stomach.
For the appetizer, I think the most appropriate would be something about the size of an amuse-bouche, rather than something of a normal appetizer size. To provide the multiple textures, I went with a seafood custard. This way we have the soft custard, chewy meat, crunchy tempura, and eggs that burst with a unique feel to them.
Custard of the Sea
Makes about 4-5 servings
1 ounce squid or octopus (use some form of poultry dark meat if unavailable as this is for chewiness) 1 ounce salmon roe (another fish egg can be used if unavailable, tapioca balls can work in a pinch, but they don’t have burst effect) 1 tablespoon crunchy tempura bits (or panko or Rice Crispies if unavailable)
Custard ingredients ½ cup seaweed or fish broth 1 egg (beaten) 1 teaspoon mirin or a mild white wine a pinch of salt a dash of soy sauce
1. Cut up the meat and divide it between four or five 2-ounce, transparent shot glasses in such a way that there is not more than one layer per glass. 2. Combine the custard ingredients and fill each shot glass with it so that each glass is not more than 2/3 of the way full. 3. Place the shot glasses in a steamer. Or boil a small amount of water in a large pot, elevating the glasses so that they don’t become waterlogged; if you have a trivet, this is usually the best way to accomplish this, but if too much water is getting in, you can wrap the glasses in plastic wrap while they steam. (A steamer is probably easier, but I don’t have one and haven’t used one so I don’t know details for that method.) 4. Steam for about 10 minutes until done (a toothpick entered into the custard should result in clear liquid). 5. Arrange salmon roe and tempura bits on the top of the custard for serving.
The custard can also be served cold, so refrigerating it between steps 4 & 5 could help with the need to make multiples at the same time if they decide to expand the menu and have dishes be optional instead.
For the drink, something strong might be a good thing to provide. I’d probably go with a caffeinated alcoholic drink. Since Melody has shown us that alcohol works on vampires, that could be fun.
Since a non-human resort has a sort of underground/hidden/secretive feel, I’d go with the liquor reminiscent of pirates.
Moon-Curser’s Choice (drink)
Ingredients:
8 ounces hot brewed coffee (the stronger the better) 4 ounces dark aged rum 1 cinnamon stick sugar in a small bowl with a spoon for serving
Part of the experience should be the process of assembling the drink, so the beverage should be served on a tray with an individual coffee server, an individualized rum bottle, a coffee cup, and the cinnamon and sugar. Then, while the coffee is still hot, the patron can mix in the alcohol and as much sugar as he or she desires, stirring it with the cinnamon stick (or sugar spoon if not partaking of the cinnamon) so that the sugar dissolves into the coffee. Cream can be provided for those who require it, but as a vampire drink, the set is created so that the drink will be strong.
