If you have any suggestions for the forums (new boards, new threads, functions you'd like to see, etc), let us know here!

Hi!
A few years ago, I started writing an original story about a virtual-reality video game inspired by 1/2 Prince and another LN called Legendary Moonlight Sculptor. It's been moderately successful on other sites and the humour has been compared to 1/2 Prince more than once, so I think people on these forums would enjoy it.
The thing is, it's over 100,000 words now at 32 chapters, and would be kind of awkward to put into a single thread as the rules in the Fanwork forum state to do.
Would it be possible to create a subforum for my story (and any other long stories other writers may have) so that I could post each chapter as separate threads? Or if not, could I post the chapters as separate threads directly into the Fanwork forum?

Hm, it sound interesting unice5656 and I would love to read it. Of course, it would be difficult to put it in a single thread. Hm...conundrum indeed. I'll bring it up with the other staff mkay? I would love to read it, and it sound incredibly interesting. Wanna PM me?

unice5656We would love to have your story posted here. It sounds very fascinating. That said, several staff discussed your proposal yesterday. In the end, we decided that we will stick by our proposed rules. Chapters for the same story should be posted in the same thread, as different posts. You could make a thread for just the chapters, a thread for discussion, a thread for side stories, etc, if you wish to do so, but chapters for the main story should all go in the same thread. You could make a table of contents on the first post of the thread linking to where in thread the chapters could be found to help readers out, but that's not required. You could also use the spoiler tag to hide text if you feel the chapters are too long for people to scroll through. This might be different from how some other forums do things, but we believe this is a very valid way of doing things too and not as awkward as you might think. Having chapters in the same thread is great for tracking and following the story, and readers only have to scroll to read the story. It also keeps the forums uncluttered. Yu Wo's forums is one such place where they post fic for long stories all in the same thread, and we feel it works well for them. Here are some examples of very long fic posted this way: pinkcorpse.org/thread-34355-1-3.html (You'll see that this person created a table of contents as part of the first post) pinkcorpse.org/thread-29399-1-2.html (This is perhaps the longest fic on the site at 329 chapters and ongoing. This writer does not have a table of contents) Sorry for any inconvenience, and thank you for wishing to post your fic here. I hope you will still consider it, as it will definitely make the place livelier. (You will likely not get anywhere close to the same traffic here as on other sites though!)

I can post in one thread.
Do you know what the code is to create the table of contents?
As well, is there a way to paste from Word onto the forums without losing all my formatting? Having to re-add the italics manually is extremely time-consuming. If not, I can just paste into a different forum first.

unice5656The link for each post can be found on the right under "post options." If you're asking about how to make it look fancier, tables could make it look nicer, but not necessary. (A list would do!) Here's an example of a simple table using the Table button from the full reply box. As for italics, our forum doesn't keep the formatting when directly pasting. To save some time, in Word, you can replace your italics with the BBCode for italics all at once by following these steps. 1. Go to Editing->Replace. 2. In the "Find what" field, type Ctrl+i to indicate you're asking Word to find all instances of italics. 3. In the "Replace with" field, type [i]^&[/i] 4. Click "Replace all."
That should add the BBCode for italics to all instances of italics you have in your document.
