Hello everyone!~ I want to tell you about what my preference first before I list my favorite light novel beside Yu Wo's light novels. I actually like an overpowered (OP) main character type story, with old fantasy setting (knights, dragons, and magic), and, of course, the comedy plot XD And here I want to share what I've been reading up until now: 1. Douluo Dalu (English name: Soul Land) by Tang Jia San Shao

Notes: It's about an OP MC who reborn in another world.
I dunno why, but after trying to read another Tang Jia San Shao creation, most of it's MC are OP since children (about 12 years and so).
2. Unique Legend by Hu Xuan

Notes: I think the MC is actually powerful, but the unlucky curse clouded him and made his personality is laughable.
3. Magi's Grandson Japanese Web Novel

Notes: It's still new and just showing the MC is OP. It's MC also reborn in another world like no 1.
4. Desolate Era by I Eat Tomatoes (我吃西红柿 Wo Chi Xihongshi) English scanlation: worldofwatermelons.com Notes: The MC is a 'sick from newborn' person. Although just lives for 16 years, he died and faces his judgment day. The judge planned his reincarnation to be an immortal race because of his huge good merit in the Earth but an accident happen and he had no choice but to reincarnate in mortal race again but in different world than Earth where you can became immortal with long and painful effort. With new healthy body and mind, he strife to become an immortal in this journey.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, I want to share about what Webtoons I've been reading. Of course with OP MC, Fantasy settings, and Comedy plot :3 1. Black Haze > OP MC who disguised as a lowly Student. Surely will make you laugh a lot. 2. The Gamer > OP MC with The Gamer stats with reality (and a mix of fantasy) settings. Imagine you have a lot of INT and do your school test LOL. 3. Red Storm > Ordinary MC, trained by OP Master and become OP MC itself. It's mainly about fighting, with a bit of comedy. English scans: all from mangacow.co XD |

I hope this isn't a big spoiler for new reader..
1. Douluo Dalu >> He's reborn with his past life knowledge, which named Tang Sect who specialized in hidden weapons and assassination. With his memory still intact, he remake the hidden weapons and that help him go through the new world. While he's at first had his first weak spirit, but later he found a teacher that help him utilize his weak spirit into a formidable one. I think that's quite enough for introduction >_<
2. Unique Legend >> He's a very unlucky man that even wild animals can go barge in his classroom just to hit him. Oh, he's also popular in the hospital because of his frequent visit. Later, he came to a very strange school with a heavy manual instruction of safety procedure and met a strong Seniors who can read his negative minds XD.
3. Magi's Grandson >> He too reborn with his past life knowledge. In the new world, he became a step-grandson of the magi who saves the world. He learns magic from child and because of the adaptation of his past life experience and his new world magic theory, he became powerful. Then, he goes to a magic school to learn how to socializing with people :3

I've never read Douluo Dalu but sounds pretty interesting:O definitely on my to check it out list!
As for Unique Legend, this is definitely also one of my favorites. I think the character development in this series is incomparable and that's one of the biggest reasons why I love it so much. You follow and grow alongside the mc! But it doesnt stop there! No, you actually grow alongside all the charcters, and once in a while we get those super super awesome backstories and you just get to see how the backstory shaped them into who they are, then you get to see how the present continues to shape who they will be! All the characters are constantly growing and learning and it's just new compared to many stories whose characters are static. Not only is the charcter developmet great but the plot is hella interesting too! Like why is our mc so special, or who exactly is that XueZhang. Though it starts off really slow, I think it's totally worth sticking to.
Magi's Grandson very very quickly became one of my favorites haha its very interesting, even though we've yet to reach any action, the story has me hooked. Like an mc with no common sense but is crazy powerful? Seriously, just imagine how much trouble this guy can cause! However, I'm slightly annoyed at the moment. Mostly because of Sicily... But that's a whole different topic. Let's just see how the story will unfold.

I saw Douluo Dalu manga first, then later I saw a comment that it's actually a light novel adaptation.
Then I found the story is rather interesting for an OP character :3
Yeah, Unique Legend MC looks kinda weak and I want to see how he's growing. I like how he describe a situation with his absurdly way of thinking.
And the Xue Zhang always smack his head because of that LOL. Btw, the colorful headed chicken rooster reminded me of Ezart LOL.
Magi's Grandson MC needs a rival or some powerful opponent to make this OP character shines. I hope it came soon.
I want to see too if Sicily will become like Xiao Wu at Douluo Dalu who can make the MC berserk when she's hurt.
Hey, if any of you have some list of OP MC with Fantasy settings Light Novels tell me too! XD

Monica Haha, well I'm sure I'll have nothing to do once summer school is over, which is basically the end of this week! I'm so excited, I really feel like summer school broke me XD I've never written so many big essays in such a short amount of time doubled with a load of Chinese hw since my Chinese prof was like "this is an intensive course right?" But I digress. I'm sure I'll have tons of time to read all the light novels and watch all the animes I want when summer comes! So, I'll definitely get back to you when I've checked it out:D Yeah! hahaha UL's MC pissed me off so much in the beginning cause he's such a wuss! But he's actually grown a lot, like don't grow too fast! I really love it when Xue Zhang smacks him on the head! Cracks me up every time XD Oh, hmm now that you mention it, yeah he kind of does, except I think Ezart is maybe a little more level headed and less crazy XD Like, at least Ezart would notice something is wrong with his friend whereas, I think that five colored rooster head would drag his sick friend around until that friend died! Yeah, MC is too OP haha like the only rival is not even a rival since he only got in class A and not S! Also there's Gus. Hmm, I wonder how strong Gus is, but considering how MC is like severely OP judging from the entrance exam incident, I really doubt there's anyone who would be a match for him. Honestly, I love the story but I don't see it going anywhere at the moment, so I really wish for the releases to come out faster D: As for Sicily, I think I generally just really hate weak-willed people and she is extremely weak-willed so I'm a bit annoyed. Also, it's barely chapter 13! The story barely started they met for like what? 2 chapters? I just can't deal with such fast paced romance x.x Hmm, other stories with OP MCs.. Well, I'm also currently reading Ark and Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, i think they're extremely similar to one another so, since I took a break from Ark ever since Japtem dropped it, I've just been reading LMS. I think they're really great for an virtual reality mmorpg story. I love the idea of how they gain skills, kind of like The Gamer but also not really lol. (Actually, I found the beginning way too slow for The Gamer and wasn't able to get through it.) But, the MCs are pretty OP, or well they're getting there. As for the other light novels I'm reading, I think it's just Yu Wo's LNs and Key of the Sunken Moon, which I posted about. haha speaking of unlucky, I can't decide if Yang is more unlucky or that MC from Sunken Moon (His name is Fan Tong, like rice bucket! XD He's also cursed with probably be best troll curse ever thought of!) As for manhwas, I really like Tower of God, I think it's one of the best. The MC is also pretty damn OP. Basically, they're all in a tower and everyone is climbing it, trying to reach the top. There's this whole system set up by a few people who climbed the tower before everyone else and so, everyone who enter the tower now are chosen, and they're called the regulars. However, sometimes there are the few who can open the door to the tower themselves and they're called the irregulars and basically, every time an irregular enters the tower, things change drastically. Guess who the MC is? Ah, also the MC is very mysterious. We know nothing about him and since we follow him, well even though there's mention of the outside, we know practically no nothing about it. I don't think it's possible to leave the tower either? It's an interesting read. (I haven't caught up ever since they took a hiatus though :/) The only other manhwas I read are Kuroshitsuji(cause who doesn't love sebas-chan ><) and Noblesse(I also haven't caught up since they took a hiatus, but I feel like it's not really that great anymore.. but i've followed since chapter 3 came out so, it's been many long years, I refuse to give it up!) haha sorry.. I just realized I wrote you an essay ^^;

dinoj I'm actually read all the story you mention above XD Ark is good, but I think Weed is the most sly one. He's a business gamer like me in MMORPG :3 "One does not simply play games for fun ;p"I like Weed character, but LMS has some lengthy chapter (like the history of certain kingdom war with others) that will make me asleep while reading. So I often skimmed it while reading. You know how many LMS chapter is there on royalroadl.com  Hmm.. Fan Tong or Yang? I think Yang in the first chapter will win (before he came to the school). I remembered Jumanji movies while reading how unlucky he to be loved by wild stray animals in his school *LOL* Tower of God is quite good, but I think I can't understand some complicated and detailed stories. I think it has too much diversion from the main story in the first chapter. Kuroshitsuji!! Of course, I read it! How can we miss the cute and handsome combination like this? Like a FULL MEAL COMBO at McD. Noblesse is good, but the OP is limited T_T I hope he can be eternally OP. Monica XD nice! Yeah, LMS is really slow.. Yeah I think Ark is more sly too XD I can see that there's a clear difference between Ark and LMS but it's also very very similar. I also think Ark is a lot more distrusting compared to Weed. The other thing is, Ark is trying to get to the top while, where I'm at for LMS, Weed doesn't really have a clear goal. As for which of the two I like more, can I say I really can't choose, I just don't like either of them xD Yet, I still root for their success.. haha I'm actually reading it on Japtem, I think I'm towards the end of volume 16. I get what you mean though, at times I skim through it too x.x Oh jumanji! I just watched that last last weekend cause it was on TV. Alan sure ass unlucky, though he brought that upon himself, so can't really compare him to those two who are just naturally unlucky? Fan Tong, Fang Tong.. hahahhaa wild stray animals.. I guess that's one way to describe them XD For Tower of God, I'm mostly interested in the complicated stuff haha keeps it interesting! I love reading back stories, let's me understand characters better (: hahahhaa omg FULL MEAL COMBO AT McD XD Yes, I love those two, Ciel is so mature but his childish moments seriously crack me up! Oh, a while back I felt like rewatching the anime and I feel like Sebastian had a while lot of naughty scenes! Was that in the manga?! Like I didn't get what was happening until like few minutes in and like wait wait, what's going on? I don't remember reading that.. Noblesse.. :/ Idk though, the story seems to be dying.. hahaha that website legit is all from wikipedia XD ah I wish such a magically website truly existed!

dinoj Weed goal is MONEY and Ark goal is EMPLOYED at the Game Developer. That's why Weed more oriented in gaining money to the extent he will loot any useless japtem. Weed didn't think anyone as his rival, he just want to win for gaining MONEY in the end. Ark distrust people and prefer go alone. Weed distrust people too, but still using them for his gains. Ark had a rival in his mind. I think his money-oriented mind isn't as high as Weed. For Weed even regret his choice to buy salt just a bit expensive than the usual price *LOL* So I root for Weed. I think if Weed and Ark met, Weed somewhat will use Ark for something while Ark just refer Weed as someone powerful. Japtem translation is good. Many LSM chapters in royalroadl.com using google translate so it's kinda hard to read >.< Yes it has a bit naughty scene but skipped in the manga. It's when they disguise at some circus who kidnapped children. It has kinda bad ending though, for the children is killed in the end because they have no will to live again. Haha.. I found that site while watching Pewdiepie sometimes in youtube. His review is so hilarious XD Did you read Black Haze? It's good to try if you have some spare time :3

Monica You're right, since for Weed, the game is basically a full time job, since I was talking about it in context of the game and basically in the game and ignoring real life, so I forgot how much real life affects their in game attitude. haha Idk though, If they were to meet would Ark not see Weed as someone who could possibly get in his way of getting to the top if they were to be playing the same game? Oh, I never looked at royalroadl's translations so I wouldn't know. Haha yeah the Book of Circus, it was one of my favorite arcs. I don't think they had no will to live, in fact they wouldn't have fought to the death if they didn't. The truly believed that they were fighting and doing all the stuff they do to help the children back at the orphanage. I also think they all died still believing that, and the sad truth was, their prosthetic parts were actually made from the children they so desperately wanted to protect. I also think it followed the manga very closely compared to the first two seasons of the anime, which strayed pretty far. I just really pitied them haha but also glad they didn't learnt the truth. I don't really watch his reviews. What's Black Haze about? Also, just found out Cheese in The Trap is going to be a kdrama XD I'm kind of excited for that

dinoj I mean, the kidnapped children is used for 'a thing' to do a circus show even when they don't have the skill to do that and many dies from that show. After Ciel finished the perpetrator, some of the children survived but Ciel decide to eliminate all of them because the will to live in those children died. Kinda feel bad for Snake though.. He didn't know that all his bro and sis is killed by the one he's serving  Black Haze had an OP MC in disguise. He's actually already a full-fledged magician but forced by his guild master to disguise as a low-class student for his mission. There he met a bad senior and kick their ass, met some weird and unique friends along the way. This story have plenty ways to made you laugh  Whaaaa?? CITT going to be a drama? I wanna see!! XD I hope the actors will be super handsome and have a good acting.

Monica Oh! You were talking about the actually kidnapped kids, haha I thought you were talking about the main characters for the circus arc, haha might be mean but since they're weren't really important I didn't really care or think about what happened to them. Yeah Ciel's reason for killing them seemed to be half motivated by his own desire to try to forget it all imo. Well, I think he does know? I feel like I remember reading a scene where he tried to get revenge? Ah, I think I need some happy stories right about now haha definitely will check it out by the end of this week, I actually just finished filming my Oral Presentation for my Chinese class and we started at 8pm and well, it's 4am right now.. shouldn't have taken us such a long time x.x and since I had an essay due earlier in the day, I had woken up extra early to write it, then I had 6 hours of classes, so I'm running on like 2 hours of sleep LOL I can't wait for finals to be over D: YES. They already casted the male actor but two female actresses turned down the position, so wonder who it'll be. But, wow, being adapted into a drama? That's legit XD btw I think the male actor they casted for the position was the 2nd lead from Doctor Stranger, not sure if you've seen?

Monica Oh the CITT Drama is due to release in December from what I remember. Also, I started Black Haze and I like it so far  I didn't get too far though cause I started playing Maplestory again XD The Pink Bean character is too OP! Ah I also started reading Shokugeki No Soma/Souma or Food Wars and it's so great, I cry since I can't cook but it's so great! All the characters are freaking OP chefs XD
